WOODS:
Most of our plaques are made of northwest cedar, but they have also been made with spalted maple or alder. Other woods or surfaces, when available, can be discussed.

What are spalted woods?

LETTERING:

VINYL Your coordinates can be displayed by vinyl, or hand-painted characters. The vinyl lettering looks very nice and we usually recommend black for its contrast, but other colors can be used.

ROUTERED We now have a computerized router (cnc) for clean, uniform lettering, and for some carving work. Formerly, the routered signs were done by hand - a very unforgiving and time-consuming process. The cnc routering is faster, but the cost of the machine will raise the price for the signs a little.

Hardware: Currently the plaques do not come with hardware for hanging unless this is discussed at the time of the order. To hang the plaque shown at the very top of this page a length of wire was simply stapled to the back, then the plaque was hung on a single nail. Very simple and effective.

We are opened to discussing other materials and designs. We are always looking for new ways to present our plaques. Please feel free to ask for clarification on any of the above ideas.

As with our stilts, we are not a plaque "factory" stamping out zillions of perfectly milled plaque clones. In fact, our plaque work is custom, and all of it is done by hand.

We are taking orders now. When possible, we try to ship within two weeks from the order. Occasionally, we may need a little longer. UPS travel time to the east coast can be from 7 to 15 days. West coast UPS travel time may be from 4 to 8 days. For those who must have them sooner, UPS charges more for 3-Day service.

But call or email us first! Only then should you make payment by PayPal or by check. Plaque payment information Checks can be made out to Frog Legs. Send your check or money order to:

How To Obtain Your Coordinates.

Other co-ordinate formats.
There are other ways to describe navigation co-ordinates besides latitude and longitude.
UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator) UTM discussion.
MGRS (Military Grid Reference System)
are two popular forms. These co-ordinates can be used for your plaques instead of the traditional latitude and longitude.
